Mongoose Single-Caliber NCS Release by Scott Archery

Scott Archery, a leader in the world of precision archery equipment and creators of the finest releases around didn't hold back when creating the Mongoose Single-Caliber Nylon Connection Systen (NCS) Release with the shooter in mind. The following review will highlight the many great features included with the Mongoose release.

LENGTH ADJUSTMENT
: A key feature with the release is the ability to adjust the length of the release to meet the needs of the shooter. This is done by loosening the two screws in front of the buckle strap, taking the pressure off the nylon strap. After adjusting to the proper length, simply re-tighten the screws so the strap is secured properly without movement. An important thing to remember when attempting to adjust the release length is to not over-tighten the screws, as it will cause the threads to strip out of the release.

TRIGGER ADJUSTMENT: Another feature included with every Mongoose release is the ability to adjust the sensitivity of the trigger. To do this, locate the set screw found at the base of the trigger. If the shooter wants more tension on the trigger he/she can turn the screw clockwise or if the shooter desires to decrease the tension, the screw should be turned counter-clockwise. To test for the desired sensitivity, it is important to test the adjustment after each quarter-turn increment. Please note it is possible to make the trigger too sensitive by adjusting the screw out too far.

SCOTT RECOMMENDATIONS : Scott recommends that releases may be used with a string loop or directly off the bowstring and in combination with an eliminator button or synthetic nocking point. However, Scott DOES NOT recommend using any Scott release in combination with any metal loop device, or let the jaws come into direct contact with a brass nock set or any other metal device. Failure to follow these instructions, which will show signs of wear/damage voids the warranty of the release.

RECOMMENDED MAINTENANCE: Scott recommends the release should be blown out with dry air after use in damp environments. Once the release is dry, it should be re-lubricated with any light machine oil.

BUCK NASTY OUTDOORS REVIEW: From the first release of the arrow, you automatically know the Mongoose is a smooth shooting release. With it's adjustable length option, it can be made to fit any shooter's style. Another feature, as mentioned, is the ability to adjust the trigger sensitivity. However, after countless draws and releases, I have yet to adjust the trigger on my release because I felt very comfortable with the setting straight out of the package. But, for those of you who like a little more or less resistance with your trigger release, the option is there with the Mongoose.

COMFORT: One thing which impressed me with the Mongoose NCS buckle strap release is its comfort. In the past, I have had other buckle straps on different brands of releases, which had the tendency to dig into your wrist, which in turns causes discomfort over the course of shooting. However, that is not the case with not only the Mongoose, but every other Scott Archery buckle secured release I have ever shot. The comfort is there for the duration of your shooting excursion whether it is a round of 3D or a day or practicing for the fall hunting season.

SMOOTHNESS: I can't express how smooth the Mongoose release is. Shot after shot it releases the same way each and every time, which in turn allows every shot to be as smooth as the one before it. There is no hesitation with the trigger in cooperation with the locking jaws whatsoever. When you apply the proper pressure, depending on how you have the adjustable trigger set, the Mongoose releases the same way each and every time enabling you to stay consistent shot after shot.

CONSTRUCTION: It's no surprise Scott Archery Products are built to last. Just ask any of the countless number of shooters who trust their equipment. And it just isn't their top end releases either. The quality and craftsmanship put into every release Scott Archery produces is seen as soon as it's removed from the factory package and put to use and the Mongoose is no exception. As mentioned earlier, the Mongoose is smooth shooting each and every time, and you just don't get that with a cheaply made release, which is something the Mongoose is not. It's solid construction extends from left to right and front to back.

CONCLUSION: There are three words I would use to describe the Mongoose by Scott Archery Products.....SMOOTH, DURABLE and COMFORTABLE....Because that is what you get when you purchase this release. I urge you to give it a try if your in the market for what is, in my personal opinion, an unbeatable product.
